PositionThe
Strike Team/Task Force Leader (hereafter referred to as a “Task Force Leader” or “TFLD”) provides fire line supervision (“overhead”) in accordance with federal Incident Command System (ICS) requirements. This functional Call When Needed (CWN) position will be filled, when overhead resources are available, each time WDS assigns a strike team or task force (five (5) or more resources) to a wildfire incident. It is intended that each strike team or task force will have a TFLD.Since the TFLD position is intended to be more of a functional ICS position than a fulltime seasonal employment position, it is expected that this individual will
primarily be assigned as an engine boss (ENGB) that occasionally serves as a TFLD when needed.The TFLD will provide supervision and direction of any combination of WDS and Alliance (subcontractor) resources including but not limited to engines, tenders, and firefighters assembled as a WDS-defined “hand crew.” The TFLD will report to any of the following including but not limited to a WDS Liaison Officer (LOFR), WDS Regional Fire Officer (“AREP” if assigned to a fire incident), or WDS Duty Officer (DO) or other senior TFLD’s
Required Qualifications- Introduction to ICS (ICS-100)
- Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (L-180)
- Firefighter Training (S-130 – Field Day Required)
- Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190)
- NIMS: An Introduction (IS-700)
- Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
- ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (ICS-200)
- Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
- Crew Boss (Single Resource) (S-230)
- Engine Boss (S-231)
- Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290)
- Satisfactory performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)
- Completion and Certification of NWCG Engine Boss, Single Resource (ENGB) Position Task Book (PMS 311-13)
- ICS (PMS 310-1) qualified at the minimum Strike Team Leader level (TFLD preferred)
- All required NWCG certificates and Position Task Books for any prerequisite qualifications or required training
- Other documentation/ certifications considered on case-by-case basis
- Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
- Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/Pack Test) at Arduous Level (ability to walk 3 miles in 45 minutes with a 45 pound pack)
- Employees must be 21 years of age or older.
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification (will be authorized by employer for qualified individuals)
- Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record
