We are looking for a long term, full time Production Buyer/Planner eager to join our foundation team. You will perform all functions necessary to maintain optimal inventory levels for both make and buy parts. You will manage domestic and import vendors, carry out all purchasing activity, accurate production kitting, and ensure inventory stockroom integrity and part lot traceability. We need someone results oriented, and driven to succeed through continual improvement. A well qualified candidate must be exceptional with interpreting forecasts and historical usage data to plan purchasing and production activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Production Buyer Planner provides support for all inventory processes in accordance with company policies and goals. Must actively coordinate with the Engineering, Production, Inventory Control, and Quality Teams to manage all inventory related activities. Responsible for Supply Chain Management, On Time Delivery, Quality Performance, Lean Inventory Management, and MRP system integrity. This position requires dedication to the performance of the business and must be willing to set aside other influences when the company's interests are at stake.

Responsibilities

Defines the required purchases and deliverables by planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of materials, goods, and services throughout the product life cycle.

Work with Operations Manager and Production Team to identify instances where MRP standard costs, lead times, forecasts, MOQ's or other demand drivers should be amended for improvement.

Generates purchase orders, and releases work orders in support of production schedules to meet delivery needs of customers.

Maintains purchase order status and shipment tracking information.

Negotiate prices, purchase agreements, and terms with suppliers.

Identify supply gaps and develop action plan to meet customer delivery dates.

Identify and expedite supplier ship dates to meet customer requirements.

Recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities. Administers supplier surveys.

Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control, quality management system.

Root cause analysis related to purchases and corrective action implementation

Assists in the resolution of production, design, quality and/or delivery problems.

Coordinates as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers. Reviews and takes appropriate action on engineering changes to minimize impact on inventory.

Provides support for new product development.

Assist in physical inventory control to achieve balance between stock-on-hand and inventory turns goals. Assist in maintaining physical inventory including stockrooms, replenishment of materials, cycle counting, and kitting procedures.

Act as a resource during customer audits, and provide professional customer service

Reports directly to the Operations Manager

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This position assists in managing all inventory and stockroom areas, and will require some lifting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Exceptional excel and related analytical computer skills.

Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

5 years exposure to an MRP or ERP system. Inventory Control & Purchasing experience is required. APICS certification preferred.

Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills to interact with supply chain

Education Requirements

Education in Business, Inventory Management, Buyer/Planner, or similar is preferred.
