Job Description

Reporting to the Senior VP of Supply Chain, position will create a competitive advantage to Foster Farms through reducing purchasing and supply management costs while increasing shareholder returns.Reporting to the Senior VP of Supply Chain, position will create a competitive advantage to Foster Farms through reducing purchasing and supply management costs while increasing shareholder returns.

  • Direct, manage and oversee purchasing functions to meet company requirements for contracts, goods, services, vehicles, equipment and construction at lowest total cost.
  • Evaluate lowest total cost of ownership for various procured items, measure departmental performance. Negotiate and manage the administration of long-term contracts, leases and purchase agreements.
  • Direct, manage, and oversee company-wide packaging engineering functions to meet business requirements in material consumption, logistics, innovation, and product launch, implement best practices and SOP, assist production with rate, quality and yield objectives, identify packaging alternatives for Marketing and Creative Services and optimize packaging materials to ensure lowest possible costs while providing excellent quality.
  • Provide strategic vision and leadership to Fleet Maintenance, and Property departments. In conjunction with operational peers, develop a foundation, which incorporates greatest company needs versus available capital funding, resulting in “Best in Class” overall performance. Direct and manage all groups to become strategic within their given area, bringing greater value to operations and reducing project timing and costs.
  • Provide overall planning, budgeting, and personnel development for the departments and procurement cycle, instruct and encourage professional advancement. Review employee performance evaluation set Objectives. Compile and track prices, forecasts, create company budget numbers for packaging, ingredient, and direct process materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; MBA preferred
  • Ten plus years of broad-based relevant professional experience in purchasing and supply chain management preferable in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of five years of experience at a senior level director position managing a sourcing department.
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in sourcing & procurement with emphasis in energy, packaging and food ingredients.
  • Broad strategic thinker with good problem solving, scenario planning, decision-making, and negotiating skills; ability to analyze technical data in suppliers' proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement the complete Procurement process, system, and structure for excellence in a fast pace complex environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with proven ability to build a high performing team

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to sit/standfor 4+ hours a day
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required
  • Must have ability to travel occasionally overnight
