In this position you will have the following responsibilities :

Recommend department policies, procedures and programs to ensure departmental effectiveness. Maintains established improving organization performance program, patient / customer safety standards

Purchase, price and display merchandise in an attractive manner and in keeping with the clientele needs of the facility

Direct and supervise the work of the volunteers

Maintain inventory controls

Work in consultation and cooperation with the Auxiliary and / or volunteers

Maintain department records and prepares management reports as required

Is responsible for daily receipts and ensures deposits are made appropriately

Make final decision regarding retail policies and procedures and buying or receiving of merchandise (type, price, quality, etc.) in all retail areas

Ensure shop windows / displays / shelves are filled with seasonal merchandise, as appropriate

Assure that returns are handled properly

Assure customer satisfaction

Inform Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center employees, volunteers and staff of sales and special events to benefit the Medical Center

Involve volunteers with products, markets and trade shows as appropriate

Prepare and oversees the budgets for the facility

Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-servicing meetings and workshops

Attend meetings as required

Provide updates on business performance, new initiatives, and other pertinent issues

Implement programs that promote good customer service to increase sales

Negotiate and contract with vendors to increase gift shop profits

Manage Gift Shop finances including monthly performance, accounts payable, cash management, etc.

Manage the POS Cash Register System including updates, operation / training materials

Recruit and train Gift Shop volunteers ensuring they are knowledgeable and proficient in all tasks relating to their job

Initiate changes to improve service and implements programs that promote good customer service to increase sales

Open and close store as needed

Transfer supplies, equipment and / or merchandise between storage and work area by hand or by use of cart

Assure that all retail items are consistent with the Providence mission

Qualifications :

Required qualifications for this position include :

4 years retail management experience

4 years related experience in sales / merchandising

In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of retail

Requires strong leadership, motivational and communication skills with abilities to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of backgrounds and ages

Ability to effectively direct and supervise the work of volunteers

Knowledge of mathematical concepts to figure wholesale and retail costs

Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills

Working ability with personal computer hardware, software Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to understand and manage POS cash register systems

Ability to read and interpret business records adn report

Skill in displaying and marketing merchandise

Ability to make business decisions based on production / financial reports

Ability to use mathematical skills to interpret financial information

Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and coordinate work

Ability to apply sound judgment and critical thinking skills

Ability to compute and record numbers correctly

Ability to work evenings and weekends if needed

Ability to travel if needed

Preferred qualifications for this position include :

Bachelor's Degree or 4 years overall retail, buying and managerial experience
