DESCRIPTION

The Therapeutic Parent program is a family-based treatment program that matches one foster youth who has complex behavioral needs with a highly trained, full-time Therapeutic Foster Parent to prevent that foster youth’s placement in a group home or psychiatric treatment center. The program is short-term and structured. The Therapeutic Parent provides therapeutic behavioral interventions with the foster youth while working collaboratively as part of the behavioral health treatment team. Therapeutic Parents make every effort to follow solution plans to preserve a foster youth’s placement. The Therapeutic Parent receives weekly clinical supervision and increased financial support.

Anticipated Length of Placements | Determined by the treatment team but can be up to 30, 60 or 90 days based on need (not to exceed 90 days)

Reimbursement Rate | $200 per night/per child for the nights the child is in the home, plus an additional $55 each day a Medi-Cal case note is completed. $100 per night when no child is in the home.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience working with high-needs youth

- Willing to learn new skills and be a part of treatment process

- Pass criminal background checks

- Ability to be a full-time, stay-at-home foster parent

- Live in SLO County and have reliable transportation

- Maintain a safe and therapeutic home environment

- Have one dedicated bedroom for a youth

- Complete state application and training process

- Ability to work effectively on a team
