Craft Modern Asian Small Plates Restaurants Hiring Line Cook Prep
California, San francisco bay area 00000 San francisco bay area USAWe are Good To Eat, a chef-driven modern Asian small plates restaurant in Emeryville (near West Berkeley / West Oakland). We’re known for Taiwanese-inspired flavors, fermentation, and serious kitchen craft.
Our women-led, queer-led team cooks at a high level and takes this work seriously. We’ve been featured by the New York Times, SF Chronicle Best Restaurants list, KQED, and Eater’s Essential Restaurants. We’re looking for an experienced line cook who wants to grow their career in a professional, respectful, no-drama kitchen. This is a serious, chef-driven environment and not an entry-level or training kitchen.
Our kitchen runs a daily rotating, seasonal menu. The space is big and airy with skylight and great daylight. We care deeply about ingredients, technique, and every plate that leaves the pass. We work with good people, good food, and in a good environment. Service is fast-paced and high energy, and guests often come up just to say thank you — it’s a true community here.
=Ideal Candidate=
Ideal candidates are positively motivated, team players, and career-minded. If you’re excited to build a long-term career in modern, craft-driven Asian cuisine, this is a great place to grow.You need at least 2–3 years of full-service restaurant experience and preferably fine dining experience. You have strong attention to detail on each plate on the line. You prefer a quick pace with excitement and enjoy working with an amazing team who knows what they’re doing and supports each other like a great sports team. Our goal is to keep elevating our kitchen offerings and grow as a team.
=Job responsibility (not limited to)=
- Two options: weekly 32 hours or weekly 40+ hours.
(career growing opportunity is available too. we are looking for sous chef as well)
- Must be available WED–SAT, 2:30pm–10:30pm
- Must be able to pick up one of the current positions almost right away: frying station, sauté station, grill station, or have very strong daytime prep speed and precision (this is why we require 2 years of experience)
- Pre-service prep (slicing, chopping, hot line prep, sauce making)
- Inventory tracking and ordering for your station and area of responsibility
- Learn new dishes and new skills with our rotating and seasonal menu
- Line cook: must be able to pick up one of our stations within 2 weeks
- Line cook: execute dishes per chef’s specifications, including flavors and presentations
- Have a sense of urgency and be team-oriented
- Help each other during dinner service
- Maintain a professional personal image and professional communication with co-workers and customers
- Able to maintain your working environment clean and professional. able to label and store everything properly
- Complete kitchen cleaning tasks after service
=Qualifications=
- Must have 2–3 years of full-service restaurant experience within the past 6 years (if you don’t have that on your resume, please spend time to articulate why you would like to apply; otherwise, we won’t be able to review your resume)
- You have the ability to prep at the level of our current team’s speed
- You have the ability to execute tasks with a mindset of speed and a strong sense of urgency
- Able to follow our kitchen protocol
