The Sequoias San Francisco is seeking to fill an Infection Preventionist position. This is a full time non-exempt. The position includes full health benefits, pension participation, and employer 403b retirement contributions. Compensation depends on experience.

Job Summary:

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for coordinating the implementation of established infection prevention and control policies and practices. Planning organizing, developing, coordinating, and directing the Infection Prevention Program and its activities in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations. This position is responsible for but not limited to the following: Evaluating methods and procedures used in infection control, maintaining current infection control policies and procedures, monitoring the cleanliness and disinfection of stored equipment, medications, and environmental cleanliness. Monitoring staff and ensuring compliance with infection control standards, reviewing diagnosed and suspected infections as well as reviewing infection surveillance reports. Maintaining monthly infection control line lists, calculates nosocomial rates and notes trends in infections, summarizes reports, and develops plans for infection management within each level of care. Participates in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program by collecting data, analyzing data, establishing new procedures to ensure correction of recognized care issues, and regularly reporting at QAPI meetings. Participates in the annual review and revision of the infection control and prevention policy and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and may serve as a Charge Nurse as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current California nursing license, Basic Life Support certification and qualified to practice in the state of California as a RN and provide required medication training. Minimum of two (2) years consecutive experience in field of nursing immediately prior to application and minimum of one (1) year of experience as a licensed nurse in providing direct nursing care to aged persons. Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires continual standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five or more years of experience outlined in the minimum qualifications and current possession of a California RN license and Basic Life Support certification. Qualified to provide required medication training to staff. BA degree or higher with demonstrated knowledge of Title 22, OBRA, OSHA, and Prop 65. Possession of an Infection Preventionist Training Certificate.
