Visitor Services Associate

Terms: Part-time, Friday – Sunday, 7.5 hour days. Plans to expand to Thursday – Sunday by late September 2021.

Reports to: Office & Store Assistant

Description of Responsibilities: The Visitor Services Associate (VSA) is often the first person visitors encounter at the Wildling and as such must make a positive impression and create a welcoming, friendly environment. The VSA assists guests, answers questions and is responsible for gift shop sales and customer service.

Specific Duties:

1. Greeting guests and introducing them to the Museum (as necessary).

2. Providing information re: the Museum, exhibits, and local attractions, including restaurants.

3. Ensuring that the store, lobby and entrance remain clean and neat.

4. Performing opening and closing procedures for the POS each shift.

5. Ringing up store sales and assisting guest with merchandise.

6. Restocking of merchandise, maintaining product displays and orderly storage of inventory.

7. Answering phone.

8. Monitoring facilities, both inside and outside, for unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions, and for any other conditions that may require maintenance or repair, and notifying the appropriate Staff of any such conditions.

9. Assisting with other clerical tasks or events as assigned.

Requirements:

Enjoys working with guests in a fast-paced, small team environment dedicated to furthering the mission of the Museum.

Enjoys working with volunteers.

Is detail-oriented, highly organized, accurate and able to multi-task.

Is punctual and dependable and willing to occasionally help with special events.

Is a great salesperson.

Be able to lift up to 20 lbs and be okay with frequent standing and stairs

Skills/Experience:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with POS experience a plus.

Prior experience in merchandise display is highly desirable.

Minimum of one year’s experience in retail.

Clerical experience a plus.

Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Education:

High school diploma required, with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
