Manage all interlibrary loan operations and procedures for the library.
Provide excellent customer service while performing library circulation operations.
Ability to work on Saturdays or Sundays.
ABOUT US
Located on the beautiful campus of the Pacifica Graduate Institute, the Graduate Research Library is a small to mid-sized academic library dedicated to supporting the scholarly pursuits of our diverse academic community. The library holds special collections in Jungian, archetypal, and psychoanalytic psychologies, along with interdisciplinary collections in mythology, folklore, and religious studies. Our library staff is committed to assisting students, faculty, and researchers in their quest for information, ensuring that our unique and specialized collections are readily accessible and highly beneficial for advanced research and learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process and track requests for materials using the OCLC WordShare ILL system.
Verify bibliographic information and locate lending libraries.
Collaborate with library staff and external institutions to resolve issues related to loan requests.
Maintain accurate records and provide reports on loan activities.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures to enhance service efficiency.
Stay up to date with all American Library Association and OCLC policies and procedures for interlibrary loans.
Assist students in locating appropriate materials through person-to-person, telephone, and email contact.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge of interlibrary loan policies, procedures, and best practices.
Demonstrated experience with the OCLC WorldShare platform or similar system
Experience with bibliographic databases and library catalogs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Library technician certificate or diploma program with courses in interlibrary loans or technical services.
1-2 years library interlibrary loan experience required.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read, write, speak, and receive instruction in English. Basic math required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization may exist.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to address student and faculty research needs and, upon occasion, to creatively problem-solve.
COMPUTER SKILLS
PC literate; MS Office (including Word and Excel).
Familiar with OCLC World Share interface.
General office equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Sometimes required to sit, climb and/or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Close and long-range vision. Ability to lift 20lbs.
Pay Range: $22-$25/hour
