Casa Pacifica's Wraparound program is seeking a Child and Family Specialist in Santa Barbara County. Wraparound is a State initiated and County funded program intended to keep children in their own homes and communities who would otherwise be placed in out-of-home care settings such as residential treatment programs or group homes. This goal is accomplished by bringing together a unique team comprised of professionals and individuals who know and care about the family.

Called the child and family team (CFT), this group helps develop a plan that builds on the family's strengths and uses natural supports along with community resources to stabilize the youth and keep them out of congregate care.

Wraparound also provides ancillary supports such as an outpatient substance abuse group for youth displaying high risk behavior associated with substance use, Matrix Model for Teens and Young Adults, and two family programs, Strengthening Families 10-14 and Familia Adelante. These programs have been incorporated into Wraparound to provide additional supports to youth and families so that together, they can achieve success, stability, and a brighter future.

Under the guidance of the Wrap around Program manager of Casa Pacifica, coordinates the development and implementation of individualized service plans, and provides direct services to children and their families in order to maximize the involvement of all persons and the implementation of plans, and facilitates the integration, coordination, and implementation of services.

The Child and Family Specialist carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it pertains to the program development of children, the activities of children, the clinical development of children, and the general welfare of children.

The Child/Family Specialist functions as a member of an assigned service team for the Wraparound Program and provides direct services to children and families identified in individualized service plans developed by the child and family team. Works one-to-one in the home and community with at-risk youth in order to provide concrete services to assist the child and family to improve daily functioning and maintain home placement. Concrete services include such things as: providing educational support, therapeutic rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention services, accessing community resources and recreational activities, transportation, parenting assistance, and other services relevant to stabilizing home placement.

Duties include:

As directed by the Child and Family Team (CFT), provide advocacy and support to individual family members and the family as a whole.

Assist in providing crisis management to families and children when plans disrupt and onsite consultation to others involved in plans.

Participate in 24-hour on-call system.

Carry a maximum caseload of 4 - 6 families.

Submit required forms, progress notes and reports on a timely basis.

Attend all team meetings, child and family meetings, and other meetings as required.

Establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with both internal staff throughout all levels of the agency and with external resources.

Participate in training activities as directed.

Assist in monitoring and ensuring effective linkages with community and agency service providers.

Serve as a role model and advocate for children and families involved in the wraparound process.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's level preferred. Minimum one to two years' experience working with special needs children and their families required. Candidate must have demonstrated an ability to successfully work with families from diverse ethnic and cultural groups. Candidates must also have experience in crisis management. Bilingual (English/ Spanish) highly preferred. Ability to get supervised hours if ASW or MFT intern/trainee

Travel within Santa Barbara County required depending on client & program needs.

Must pass a CA department of justice, FBI and Child Abuse clearance. Must also have a clean driving record.
