Montessori Center School is a not-for-profit independent school dedicated to providing a high quality Montessori education to students ages 18 months to 12 years. We have an opening for a full-time assistant teacher position at the primary level (3 years old through kindergarten) beginning in August 2020.

The Montessori assistant teacher is an integral member of the classroom teaching team, ensuring that the program goals specified by the head teacher are implemented. The assistant teacher is directed and supervised by the head teacher, who is responsible for the overall classroom program and design. The assistant teacher is expected to learn and practice all aspects of the Montessori philosophy.

The assistant teacher assists in preparing and maintaining the classroom, supervising the children with warmth, patience and kindness, while ensuring the daily routines of the classroom are met. Specific responsibilities of the assistant teacher may include: accompanying children to specialist classes on campus, supervising on the playground, modeling Montessori manners (grace and courtesy), managing the cleanliness, order and availability of classroom materials, preparing snack, maintaining supply shelves, observing children in their daily routines and guiding when needed with appropriate Montessori materials , and assisting with other projects as assigned by the head teacher.

It is important to adhere to school protocol and school policies in all dealings with parents. The assistant teacher should establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with children, staff, administration, parents and members of the community. The assistant teacher is expected to attend staff meetings, primary teacher meetings and weekly meetings with your head teacher.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and dedicated team player who is caring and possesses a positive attitude, nurturing personality, and loves working with children. This individual must be able to effectively supervise children in safe learning/play activities and facilitate the development of social skills. 12 core early childhood education (ECE) units. Livescan and TB test are required. Salary depends on experience and educational level. Benefits provided.
