Lead Product Manager/Senior Product Manager, Portfolio Value Creation

Job Description

We are looking for a Product Manager to join the Portfolio Value Creation (PVC) team, during an exciting period of transformative change and growth. PVC partners with global Investment Groups across a portfolio of c. 80 assets and works out of offices in Toronto, London, Hong Kong and San Francisco. PVC consists of c. 20 experienced professionals with investment, consulting and corporate backgrounds, operating across the portfolio and throughout asset lifecycles.

PVC is responsible for driving value creation across CPP Investments’ global portfolio of material direct equity investments. The team is active across the entire asset lifecycle, with selective pre-deal and consistent post-deal involvement including supporting deal teams pre-closing with commercial and operational due diligence and leading value creation initiatives with a sub-set of assets where there is the potential for greatest impact.

PVC is also leading CPP Investments’ longer-term ambition of driving a truly differentiated approach to private investing through complementing existing processes with alternative data sources and innovative analytics. In collaboration with Investment Groups and CPP Investments’ Tech & Data, PVC has made meaningful progress in driving this data-led reinvention of private investing including overseeing the development of a digital insights platform (Athena) and leading advance analytics projects with portfolio companies and partners. Athena is a bespoke insights engine that allows for analysis and visualization of various datasets to better understand historical performance of portfolio companies and identify opportunities to improve performance, support diligence and source new investments.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Value Creation, you will lead the development and expansion of Athena. Working with Investment Groups, CPP Investments’ Tech & Data team, other members of the PVC team, and 30+ external developers and designers, you will lead the development and execution of the platform vision and its roadmap. While the majority of your time will initially be spent on the Athena, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the future product strategy within PVC and the Fund as we look to be increasingly technology-led in our approach to private investing.

You will:

• Manage the development and expansion of the digital insights platform, including running design sprints, prioritizing features, developing roadmaps, and managing design and development resources
• Contribute to PVC and Fund’s product strategy for the purposes of private investing
• Support the ideation and development of new products
• Provide input / guidance to portfolio companies on their product development

Qualifications

You will bring:

• 5+ years of experience in product management, leading a major product or features
• Good design sense – ability to create an exceptional user experience
• Strong judgement – ability to make critical decisions
• Backbone to hold the line on product decisions with people from variety of fields
• Strong EQ and honed relationship management capabilities
• Strong communication skills – ability present to senior stakeholders
• Conduct consistent with our Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance
