Peraton is seeking a junior to mid-level Java and JavaScript Software Test Engineer to help lead the integration and acceptance testing activities for the Navy's cyber situational awareness platform, Navy Cyber Situational Awareness (NCSA) designed to provide the operational context for cyber threat intelligence and situational awareness from external boundaries to tactical edge infrastructures for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific, in San Diego, CA. The Peraton team will support on-going/recurring delivery of NCSA capability enhancement and solution development that enables operations to the tactical level commanders to have situational awareness of how the current cyber environment affects their ability to accomplish their mission. NCSA is designed to ingest data to conduct data mining with Splunk from 150+ sources of large heterogeneous data in near real time. You will be responsible for implementing tests to provide integration, security activities and information assurance/cybersecurity for the deployment of applications on the NCSA.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two (2) years in test engineering of modern hardware/software systems. Experience may be considered in lieu of the degree
  • Secret clearance
  • Collaborate with the engineer team in reviews of technical specifications and program code with an emphasis on software development in lifecycle frameworks
  • Use Agile DevOps methodologies to deliver requirements rapidly
  • Proficient in development and implementation of test strategies, plans, traceability matrices, procedures, and reports
  • Work closely with the Product team to understand their expectations of how a feature would function
  • Evaluate existing testing methodologies and suggest new techniques that will help deliver high-quality features faster
  • Experience using frameworks and tools like Junit/TestNG (Java), Qunit/Chai (Java Script), Postman
  • Improve, maintain, and execute automated testing across the full solution stack
  • Maintain proficiency in application and use of systems, tools, and processes
  • Provide engineering support through written and oral communication with personnel at all levels
  • Writing test cases and writing discrepancy reports

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Secret Clearance
  • Experience with JavaScript, Java and SPL (Splunk Search) languages
  • Working experience or familiarity with the Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) program
  • Thorough understanding of Splunk Deployment Methodology and best practices for planning, data collection and scaling for distributed capability deployment
  • Experience with developing software tests to include JUnit, Cypress and Postman
  • Ability to critique work of self and others constructively
  • Enthusiastic and energetic with an inherent creativity to deliver an updated VRAM executable application at the completion of each development cycle (i.e. Agile Sprint)
  • Minimum BS degree in related field and at least two plus (2+) years of experience in skills identified above
  • Or, MS in Computer Science or related field and zero (0+) years of experience in skills identified above
  • Formal degree requirement may be evaluated and waived if applicant provides at least eight plus (8+) years of experience in skills identified above
