Type of Requisition: RegularClearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: SecretPublic Trust/Other Required: NoneJob Family: EpidemiologyGDIT's Military Health team is hiring an Epidemiologist to support the Naval Health Center (NHRC) Infectious Disease Field Surveillance and Laboratory Services.As the Navy hub for the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, the NHRC Operational Infectious Diseases Directorate conducts on-going, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses. This position will provide support services for operational infectious disease surveillance, accredited laboratory testing, diagnostic evaluations, support and scientific services. Specific responsibilities:In this role, a typical day will include:Support surveillance of operational infectious diseases that affect DoD personnel in coordination with federal agencies, local governments, organizations, and universities at locations around the world (coordination will be completed by the Government).

Provide operational support for diagnostic evaluations, studies, and/or trials supported by NHRC and sponsored by Federal Agencies or private companies

Organize and evaluate data sets (both provided by the government and / or also collected by the contractor), develop presentation materials, develop Standard Operating Procedures for Government approval, present findings at technical and professional meetings (subject to Government approval), and review and submit Government approved protocols for NHRC approval (subject to Government approval).

Assist in measures designed to strengthen local and regional capacity for surveillance of emerging and reemerging diseases

QUALIFICATIONS:BA/BS degree

2+ years of experience initiating and executing scientific research and/or development studies

Experience in the use of statistical programs such as Statistical Analysis System ( SAS ) and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to evaluate epidemiological questions.

Knowledge of surveillance monitoring systems.

Knowledge of how to conduct comprehensive investigations to identify and characterize risk factors.

Knowledge of how to develop strategies to reduce injury and disease incidence or mitigate health risk, and to evaluate and recommend methods of control including preventive measures.

Must be a US citizen, ability to obtain a secret clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:MPH preferred

5+ years of experience initiating and executing scientific research and/or development studies
