Volt is seeking an Sr. Design Engineer in San Diego, CA.JOB SUMMARYAs a Sr. Design Engineer, the individual will be responsible for the mechanical design of technologies to address next generation products, while also sustaining current products. The successful candidate, working in conjunction with other team members, will define and document technical requirements, create 3D assembly models and technical drawings, procure prototypes, validate through written reports prior to production release, while adhering to company policies and procedures. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Define high level product requirements through collaboration with key groups within TAPI, such as: Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Customer Service.
  • Using SolidWorks 3D CAD software, or through collaboration with onsite drafters, design technologies to align with defined product level requirements.
  • Perform sustaining activities on legacy products to address customer needs.
  • Flexibility and the ability to multitask are very important. As the Sr. Design Engineer the candidate will be responsible for developing technical drawings, procuring prototypes, developing software requirements, and coordinating verification testing.
  • As the Sr. technical expert for the NOx product portfolio provide interface and communication with Engineering, Marketing, Customer Support and Operations as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (ME/EE) or Sciences (Physics/Chemistry/Environmental).
  • Minimum 8 years real world industrial work experience. Experience within an instrumentation design and development environment preferred.
  • Proficiency designing mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings using Solidworks 3D CAD software desirable.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the operation and application of pneumatic technologies such as, pumps, gas regulators, electronic valves, pressure/flow sensors and flow control devices.
  • Have the desire to work in a fast paced work environment.
  • Have strong analytical and problem solving skills to make sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a cross functional team.
  • Effective written and verbal communications.
  • Must have experience with MS Word, MS Project, Excel, Outlook and other office productivity software.
