In this job, you’ll play a critical role in supporting core SCE electrical services and business functions through technology and innovation delivery. This includes networking, data center, and telecommunications technologies.You will be part of a team that ensures core functions are highly reliable, as well as helping to deliver new capabilities through integration and automation. This position is key to helping SCE transform to a Digital Utility by connecting and supporting IoT (Internet of Things). You will also support the Command Center Operations team which is responsible for all real-time monitoring and restoration activities.As a Network Platform Operations Advisor , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. We’re looking for a team member that is comfortable in operating in a fast-paced environment, that embraces diverse team dynamics, is dedicated to training/ developing staff, and will know how to handle changes to priorities. Support the operation of large, complex, grid & corporate networking and telecommunications technology portfolios. Includes configuration, analysis, and restoration activities of networking and communications operational infrastructure.

Preventative maintenance and support to ensure high availability.

Develop and deploy Integration and automation capabilities for effective and efficient operational management.

Help establish new or update operating model processes with cross-organizational impacts.

Leverage various networking and DevOps tools to develop actionable business intelligence.

The essentials

Seven (7) or more years of experience supporting route/switch data networking infrastructure, including maintaining, and upgrading IP/MPLS devices (routers and switches).

Experience configuring and upgrading Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI).

Willingness and ability to provide additional on-call support (during off hours on a rotational basis).

Interpersonal and customer-facing skills, with the ability to competently discuss complex technical issues with both technical and nontechnical staff.

The preferred

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.

Two (2) or more years of experience providing IT support within either a Utility, Telecom Provider, or other industry with a Large Enterprise IT environment.

Experience supporting utility industry audits and NERC-CIP compliance measures.

Willing to learn and interested in becoming well versed on future trends and evolving with new technological advances associated with Cisco or Nokia networking platforms.

Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration/Delivery (CI/CD), programming languages, Agile methodology.

Experience with network management tools and technologies, examples include but not limited to: Cisco Catalyst Center, Broadcom DxNetOps (Spectrum & Performance Center), Splunk, InfoBlox NetMRI, Netscout nGeniusONE, Solarwinds, Forescout, RedSeal Network Exposure Analytics and F5 Load Balancers.

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining unescorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

This position may require additional on-call support (during off hours on a rotational basis).

The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for a period out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

This position requires willingness and ability to travel up to 25%, traveling between alternate SCE work location sites, and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
