The AEA Integrated Project Team (IPT) at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) has been tasked by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide software engineering support for the suite of AEA mission planning software components that interface and operate with the Joint Mission Planning System-Maritime (JMPS-M) Framework. The suite of AEA software components consist of the AEA UPC, Satellite (SAT)/Integrated Broadcast System (IBS) common planning component, and the Electronic Warfare Data System (EWDS) which are applicable to the EA-18G "Growler" electronic warfare aircraft, and its predecessor, the EA-6B "Prowler". Additionally, under Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is purchasing the EA-18G Software Configuration Set (SCS), including the delivery of the mission planning software that builds the mission data libraries for download to the aircraft. The mission planning software consists of the JMPS with the applicable UPCs. This program will provide program management, system engineering, software and database development, and testing and evaluation, in the area of software requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and training for the suite of AEA mission planning components and the AEA UPC integrated into the mission- planning environment (MPE) for the RAAF and United States Navy (USN). Responsibilities will include:- Applies knowledge of computer science principles, information management principles, automated data processing (ADP) functions, hardware and software systems structures and operation, and computer programming languages and techniques to solve automations problems.
- Addresses scientific, engineering or business objectives by writing, modifying or adapting computer programs in machine level, assembly and third or fourth generation programming languages. Interfaces with and uses minicomputer and mainframe computer systems in addressing project objectives.
- Identifies and uses standard, unconventional and original mathematical, algorithmic, and programmatically approaches to define, plan, organize, design, develop, modify, test, and integrate database or data processing systems, computer hardware systems and simulations models.
- Formulates architectural design, functional specifications, interfaces and documentation of hardware or software systems considering system interrelationships, operating modes and software or equipment configurations.
- Researches unconventional applications of software and operating systems in designing and developing new methodologies, significant modifications or adaptations of standardized techniques.
- Responsible for developing project plans, guidelines, and controls.
- May act as team or project leader, supervising and advising with respect to the work of other computer specialists, scientists, or technicians.
- Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
- A minimum of eleven (11) years of related experience with at least four (4) years of experience in performing the duties and responsibilities mentioned above.
