Qualifications

3 years mortgage underwriting experience (both Conventional and Government)

Knowledge of current Agency and Government mortgage guidelines, loan programs and trends

Computer proficiency in lending platforms, Microsoft Office, Adobe and multiple internet browsers

Motivated self-starter who's willing to go the extra mile.

Strong sense of urgency with a passion for providing exceptional client service

Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and sales/service skills

Attention to detail and ability to learn quickly

Ability to think outside of the box while exercising sound decision-making

Comfortable with new technology systems and paperless environment

LendingQB is a plus.

Some Responsibilities of the Mortgage Underwriter

Evaluate creditworthiness of borrowers in order to render a credit decision. This includes but is not limited to the review of credit reports, paystubs, W2’s, financial statements, tax returns, asset statements, etc.

Review appraisal to ensure the report is accurate, complete and the value is supported, and the collateral is acceptable. Recognize when additional field reviews may be necessary to support value.

Ensure compliance with appropriate company, Agency, FHA/VA, and investor guidelines.

Review file to make sure state and Federal regulatory guidelines have been met.

Calculate net tangible benefit for those states that require this test
