Maxar is seeking a Structures Engineering Project Manager for the Structure manufacturing and engineering organization at our Palo Alto, CA office. As a company, Maxar is a global leader of geospatial and space-based technology solutions. The Structure Subsystem department is responsible for the end to end effort in the proposal, product definition, design, development, manufacturing and overall management of structural products, (Products include; Primary structure, secondary supports structures, tower structures and printed support structures. As the Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for successful execution of project including, schedule and budget within projected scope.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of the project, set deadlines, assign responsibilities and ensure progress of the project.
  • Assist in the definition of the project scope and objectives.
  • Develop appropriate tools to monitor and track progress
  • Define resource needs and availability. Obtain commitments from external organizations for resources
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all technical aspects are considered and addressed.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate validation.
  • Perform risk management to minimize risks in design, schedule and financial scope.
  • Assist in the integration of hardware into spacecraft systems architecture

Minimum Requirements:
  • or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 5 years of work experience. A Master's degree will count for 2 years of experience and a PhD degree will count for 4 years of experience.
  • 3 years of experience in project/program management
  • 2 years of experience utilizing a scheduling tooling

Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership and influence skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong time management skills, meeting deadlines are critical. The ability to set realistic deadlines and expectations.
  • Experience in budget management
  • PMP certificate
  • Understanding of design practices for release, redline, and engineering change notice processes
  • Comfortable working on interdisciplinary teams internally and externally
  • Agile and out of the box thinking, ability to think about the project beyond the basic skill sets
  • Strong motivational skills, does not allow the team to get caught up in the churn, creator of straight forward plans so the project and the team can reach full potential.
  • Experience in customer interfacing; knowing when to involve or not involve the customer.
