Sugarplum Sangha

The Sugarplum Sangha is a community in residence at the Mariposa Institute. In addition to our regular practices of meditation, inner-work, and Beginning Anew, we steward the land and facilities at Mariposa so that it may be a resource for the people of Mendocino County and beyond. Part of our mission involves offering retreats in the Plum Village tradition and another part involves maintaining Mariposa so that it may be enjoyed by diverse communities and individuals.

Seeking Maintenance Support

We are searching for a Maintenance Manager to help repair and maintain our cabins, facilities, utilities and appliances. The Maintenance Manager position is 17 hours/month and given lodging in one of Mariposa’s cabins as compensation.

Summary

The Maintenance Manager will regularly inspect Mariposa facilities and report weekly to the Facility Manager to identify maintenance issues and strategize for their resolution. In between meetings, the Maintenance Manager will oversee the completion of maintenance goals by supplying skilled labor and/or working closely with other contractors.

Skills Required

Basic water related plumbing

Experienced in basic carpentry

Able to provide ball park estimates for maintenance projects

Communicate maintenance needs and project descriptions to non-professionals

Hire and work effectively with contractors

Responsive to email and phone calls

Consistent and punctual to meetings

Timely and thoughtful in providing updates

Friendly and respectful to staff, residents, and guests
