Professional Search Group is working with a large media/entertainment company who's seeking a full-time, remote

Lead Software Engineer, Video. Some travel to the Los Angeles office will be necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTIONLooking for a Lead Video Software Engineer to design, build, deploy and support video infrastructure and tools, including live/VOD encode, origin, CDN integrations, QoS/QoE measurement and tools to manage video workflows. We're responsible for delivering the largest LIVE events on TV - including the Super Bowl, MLB World Series, FIFA World Cup, Election Coverage, WWE Smackdown, NFL Championships, Primetime Emmy Awards and countless more. This role is essential to providing our digital audience a great experience every time they press play and will be key to developing industry-leading reliability, quality, and overall system performance. As a lead video software engineer, you will be working in an extremely fast-paced environment where you’ll be expected to learn the ecosystem quickly and help build automated, highly scalable and resilient delivery infrastructure for video streaming.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with Engineering/Product/Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build highly scalable/reliable video infrastructure- including various configurations, routing policies/tools, and services to manage video workflows
  • Develop software solutions based on operations; collaborate and confer with colleagues, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle
  • Develop new features, improve existing features and fix bugs
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and implement changes in policies and procedures
  • Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Support and develop software engineers by providing coaching and educational opportunities
  • Participate in Tier 3 on-call rotation support for the services you and your team develop and operate

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • 2+ years of experience with live video streaming (HLS/DASH)
  • 2+ years as a lead
  • Experience using AWS or other cloud providers
  • Strong understanding of software design/architecture and tradeoffs
  • Strong understanding and experience with databases
  • Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Familiarity with containers, micro-services and related architectures

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • AWS architecture or developer certifications
  • Experience with encoding (H.264/H.265), AWS Media Services (MediaLive/MediaPackage),
  • Experience with broadcast automation standards (i.e. SCTE-35, SCTE-104, SCTE-224/ENSI, BXF, etc)
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Bash)
  • Experience with log analysis tools (i.e. Splunk, Sumologic, etc)
