Job Details

The Database Engineer will be involved in coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard computer databases.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement and maintain SQL and no-SQL databases in support of our data warehouse and production applications.
  • Design, implement and maintain daily/monthly data refresh processes.
  • Engineer elastic, fault-tolerant, highly available, recoverable, and monitored database solutions.
  • Provide data modeling and SQL advice through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Creates reports and data extracts in applicable tools, including using Excel, flat file, and/or MS SQL Reporting services, as needed.
  • Provides production-related support for issues impacting existing and new applications, reports, dashboards, and integrations.
  • Documents and reviews procedures, collects and analyzes data, designs algorithms, draws data and database flow charts to optimize efficiency
and efficacy in the databases.
  • Mentor report developers by providing them with technical support.
  • Keeps abreast of developments and best practices in database engineering.
  • Implements automation to improve internal processes.
  • Collaborates with Operational DBA and Systems Engineering teams to ensure database performance, data security, and best practices
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Programming language
  • Ability to draw conclusions, escalate issues, and formulate recommendations.
  • Experience working with SSIS, SSRS, and/or SSAS.
  • Experience working with BI tools, for best practices in reporting, efficiencies, and automation.
  • Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security.
  • Strong organizational, re-engineering, and problem-solving skills (research, gather, arrange, compile, interpret, summarize, and ability to
effectively interface with all levels of management.
  • Self-starter with the ability to balance multiple projects with aggressive deadlines and strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and willing to work on a multitude of tasks to support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Mortgage operations knowledge is a plus.
Required Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Information systems, information technology, computer science, or similar.
  • Applicable licensing, certification, and registration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in database engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with various operating systems in database environments, utilizing scripting languages, partitioning, and server automation,
including file generation, export, and communications (SMTP tools)
  • Experience leveraging database and data technologies in AWS or other Cloud environments
