DESCRIPTION

Job summaryYou will work on the core technical components that make Luna's game streaming possible. We work on everything from graphics card performance, real-time A/V encoding, streaming and decoding, network congestion control algorithms, to large scale data analysis. You will be responsible for delivering new features to customers and pushing the envelope in game streaming.

Key job responsibilitiesThe Amazon Luna team is leveraging the power of the cloud to enable customers to experience the rich and immersive world of gaming on all of their existing devices. Luna represents an exciting and truly new product and business, with a high degree of innovation, and an opportunity to reach a large volume of passionate customers.

As a Software Development Engineer working on the infrastructure for Luna, you will get to combine your passion for gaming, AWS, and building scalable tech for the next generation of cloud gaming.

A day in the lifeYou will be responsible for delivering new customer-facing features for game streaming. You will work closely with Product Management to define new features for customers and for game developers. You will have the chance to innovate the technology in game streaming technology.

About the teamYou will be a key contributor to the streaming technology for Luna. The team's mission is to deliver the best game streaming product to customers. We are working on the frontier of cloud gaming technology.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of programming experience in Java or C; in Linux, Windows, and/or Mac environment.
  • Experience in Graphics/GPU programming and congestion control algorithms
  • Experience with real-time communications technologies (VoIP or media streaming) over the web such as WebRTC, RTP, RTCP, SIP, etc.
  • Experience with audio/video codecs and debugging compression and decompression problems.
  • Expertise in developing advanced Audio and Video Processing Algorithms
  • Experience with Audio/Video software stack in different platforms (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, Linux)
  • Design/development skills including experience driving projects from concept to prototype to production
  • Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability, or experience building scalable, reliable applications.
  • Experience creating advanced architectures and sustainable solutions.
  • Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
  • Excellence in technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers
