IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR ASSISTANT BUYER

Immediate/Full-Time Opening

Growing, fast-paced import/export company located in Pomona, CA has an immediate full-time opening for an experienced Assistant Buyer responsible for supplier sourcing, purchasing of good/services, vendor negotiations, and other related job duties that include, but are not limited to the following:

▪ Using in-house inventory and procurement systems, will maintain and track inventory levels and place new orders as needed/required by verifying purchased items.

▪ Prepares purchase orders by verifying purchased items, order specifications/price.

▪ Reviews vendor proposals and participates in vendor contract meetings, overseeing supplier negotiations and procurements of products/supplies consistent with company quality standards and budgetary guidelines.

▪ Interacts with vendors to obtain product/service information, availability, and delivery schedule.

▪ Collects, analyzes and summarizing data, price proposals, and financial data/reports. Analyzes, develops, and maintains purchasing strategies needed for obtaining best prices, required quantities, product quality and reliability (timing) of product deliveries, goods, and services.

▪ Works closely with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as availability, and delivery schedule.

▪ Researches and evaluates new vendors, establishes vendor contract terms/conditions and make necessary changes as needed.

▪ Monitors and evaluates supplier performance seeking ways to improve the company’s position in the areas of profitability, cost savings, and exclusivity arrangements.

▪ Makes on-site visits with vendors to compare offerings from stores and on-line stores to determine what the company is missing in its product mix.

▪ As required/needed, will attend Trade Shows, conferences, and meetings to learn new industry trends, make contacts with potential suppliers/partners, and foster existing supplier relationships.

▪ Develops a working knowledge of categories the company offers to make best-informed purchasing decisions.

▪ Works with internal/external departments, sales reps, vendors, primary customers, answering questions/inquiries, and collaborates with other departments to promote managed Brands on a schedule and established timeline, based on inventory levels, new products, and closeouts.

▪ Maintains purchasing records, vendor agreements, computer inventory data, purchase order/shipping reports.

▪ Establishes purchasing department goals based on company inventory needs, sales projections, purchasing history, and current marketing trends for the coming year.

▪ Collaborates with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and for maintaining acceptable levels throughout the year and creates effective marking strategies with collaboration of the marketing team.

▪ Takes the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses.

▪ Aligns with company P&L objectives/targets and ensures that Purchasing Team meets/surpasses company goals/objectives.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

▪ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

▪ 3-5 years of progressive experience as a merchant in a specialty store environment.

▪ Proficient math, computation, budgeting, analytical and record-keeping skills.

▪ Demonstrated knowledge and proven ability to identify trends and business opportunities, and to make alliances with new/current vendors & suppliers.

▪ Strong analytical, quantitative, communication and negotiation skills.

▪ Proficient computer skills (Microsoft word, excel, pwrpt, Internet, Google Suite, and internal applications/controls).

▪ Proficient computer skills, and ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively analyze and resolve problems.
