ART TEACHER

P/T and On-Call

JOB SUMMARY: Teaches art to adults with developmental disabilities. Develops and carries out projects in various art mediums; acts as a stimulating and inspirational force to help each artist grow to full capacity; organizes preparation for work and for cleanup of studio; maintains a portfolio of each artists work; assists in selecting artwork and pieces for exhibits; maintains art supplies and equipment; designs and uses adaptations of art supplies and equipment as needed by each student; other duties may include assisting with preserving artwork, maintaining consumer records, and assisting with fundraising events and/or art shows.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, college level course work in social work, special education, psychology or related field, and a minimum of one year working with individuals with disabilities. Requires experience in fine and/or performing arts; a practicing artist is preferred. Practical experience in teaching fine art, music, creative writing, dance and/or theater to people with disabilities is highly desired.

RATE OF PAY: Starts at $14.00 per hour
