POSITION PURPOSESales Department Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that excellent customer service is provided to all Customers within their assigned department(s). They achieve this goal by supervising and providing training to Customer Service Associates within their departments. In addition they provide valuable input into merchandising decisions to the Sales Assistant Store Managers (ASMs) and the Freight Team. In order to do their jobs effectively, they must have excellent customer service skills, strong productknowledge and the ability to lead and develop others.MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESSERVING CUSTOMERSUsing the racetrack and coaching other Associates to use the racetrack to proactively seek and satisfy CustomersProviding outstanding service to external and internal Customers (e.g., assisting Customers in store or on phone, loading merchandise into Customer cars, handling complaints, etc.)Ensuring special orders are processed in a timely and professional mannerScheduling Associates effectively to customer service demand in labor managementSUPERVISING ASSOCIATESResponsible for overseeing work activity within his/her department(s)Communicates store and Home Depot objectives to associatesSupervising Associates within department(s) of responsibilityScheduling Associates work time and training within department(s) of responsibility (to be approved by Store Manager)Training, coaching and developing Associates customer service skills and product knowledge within department(s) of responsibilityNATURE AND SCOPEDue to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surfaceThe warehouse environment can be dusty and noisyDoors near the department are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changesFloors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditionsMay have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edgesPassing forklifts emit gas fumesTools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materialsENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTSEnvironment:Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposureTravel:Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Additional Environmental Job Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.Additional Minimum Qualifications:Education Required:Years of Relevant Work Experience: 0 yearsPhysical Requirements:Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
