Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer Photonics Research to join the Advanced Concepts and Technology (ACT) team. This position is responsible for design, fabrication support, and testing of internally funded (IRAD) and customer funded (CRAD) photonic integrated circuit technology for a variety of applications. Responsibilities include participating in the multidisciplinary Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) development team on cutting edge development and demonstration programs. The candidate will join a highly motivated group of physicists and engineers working on a variety of technology development tasks. The effective applicant shall be a highly motivated “self-starter” able to take-action with limited direction, and implement on integrated active and passive photonic devices, in III-V and Si based platforms. Additionally, the applicant will be expected to contribute to proposal efforts involving PIC pursuits. Required Skills: At least 10 years of related work experiencePhotonic Device Design: Experience with modeling of both active and passive silicon or III-V photonic devices, such as optical waveguides, modulators, and filters. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to de-embed design parameters experimentally. Mask Layout: The candidate will work with process engineers to convert device designs into a viable fabrication process.Understanding of the device fabrication process and experience working with process engineers to convert device designs into a viable fabrication process.Software/programming experience with tools such as EMAG Simulation Software (e.g. COMSOL, Lumerical, etc.), Matlab, LabView, and/or PythonAbility to (1) to plan/schedule tasks (2) define hardware components, (3) interface with vendors, (4) perform data reduction and analysis, (5) document/report test results, and (6) deliver completed systems Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reportingExperience with proposals to government customersThe ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
