Forklift Operators

Position Summary: Operate forklift to move, relocate, locate and stack product within processing area. Shrink-wrap product using automated machine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must comply and follow all GMP’s, Safety practices, and Company policies.

Use forklift to move product to and/or between processing lines as needed and depending on request for specified product.

Use forklift to remove all empty containers and/or bins from processing line.

Conduct daily safety inspections on forklift and/or other equipment.

Perform minor maintenance on forklift as needed.

Use forklift to move loaded pallet to shrink-wrap area.

Operate automated machine to shrink-wrap product on pallet.

Unload inbound shipment safely and move product to receiving, processing, shipping, and/or storage locations.

Load or unload material or product onto or off of pallets, racks, and/other areas using forklift and/or other lifting devices.

Use forklift to stack product in designated and/or appropriate areas.

Conduct daily safety inspections and/or minor maintenance on forklift and/or other equipment.

Inventory material on work floor, and supply workers with product as needed using forklift.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

License or Certificate in operating forklifts and/or any other lifting devices is required.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to read and write correspondence and routine reports.

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Abilities: Must be able use common sense and comprehension to carry out details of your job function without written and/or verbal instructions. Must be able to assess and deal with unexpected situations that may arise while carrying out the duties of your job.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Must be able to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
