Client information on this job opportunity:Founded in 1963, this client is a manufacturer and retailer of jet planes. This position will be located at their completion center in Little Rock, Arkansas, which employs about 1,400 people, occupying nearly 1,000,000 total sq. ft., This worksite handles all phases of aircraft completions and modifications such as instrumentation, wiring, interiors, painting, engineering and flight testing. The facility is 100% dedicated to supporting only their jet product line. It operates as a one-stop shop, servicing all jet models with inspections, maintenance and repair needs. They offer interior fittings, avionics, engines and support services.

JOB SUMMARY:The person in this position will be designing an industrialized solution from the Dassault Falcon Jet Design Engineering definition. You will be developing a production solution which maximizes production efficiency while assuring conformity to design requirements. In this position you will create manufacturing work instructions; assist with design improvements and problem solving for manufacturing issues (production methods and procedures). And you will apply this logic in a variety of areas such as layout, production flow, tooling and production equipment, material fabrication, assembly methods and planning.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) :
  • Interpret manufacturing/assembly drawings and process specifications to create accurate technician level work instructions that fully conform to design requirements.
  • Optimize order of operations and assembly sequence to maximize build efficiency and to reduce the probability of technician error.
  • Develop and maintain routings and Manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM) to ensure all parts defined by Engineering are installed during the assembly/installation process.
  • Author detail industrialization packages that optimize manufacturing process and opportunity for zero defects.
  • Develop and provide time standards to the shop floor as well as standard work for operations and processes.
  • Create rework instructions to support effective corrective actions.
  • Interact with engineering, subject matter experts, and shop floor personnel to ensure that work instructions are accurate and comprehensible.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturability of product design, during the appropriate design phase, resulting from established methods and performance analysis.
  • Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into existing and future processes.
  • Utilizes analytical skills for capacity analysis, tool and equipment utilization as well as line balancing.
  • Performs trend analysis of shop performance measures to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.
  • Optimize the process for both detail and assembly level manufactured parts and products, or deliver supporting services, with maximum efficiency.
  • Work with internal customers and management to develop standards for design and production.
  • Perform technical studies and conduct analysis of operations (existing and proposed).
  • Provides leadership to more junior collaborators, including ensuring deliverable quality standards are met.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
  • Completed, relevant education from an accredited college or university may be substituted for years of relevant work experience. 1 year of education = 2 years of experience.
  • Depending on the level of the position, experience in a manufacturing environment as a Process Planner, Industrial Engineer, Production Engineer, or Design Engineer. Associate level positions do not require this experience.
  • Experience with CATIA, AutoCAD, Solidworks or equivalent product design solution
  • Basic knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles
  • Strong willingness to solve problems that have a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional processes, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Exposure converting engineering instructions and information into content intended for a variety of audiences and ability levels.
  • Proven ability to read technical drawings and schematics with strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven computer proficiency
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • VPM experience preferred
  • Aircraft experience (hands on or support function)
  • Manufacturing Engineering/Planning experience
  • Aircraft technical Writing
  • 3D modeling experience
  • LEAN Specialist certification
