RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce's client, a growing and established company in the Tucson, AZ area is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer. We are working directly with the hiring manager on this search assignment. The company offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, annual bonus, etc.

Summary:The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for both engineering and project management aspects of New Product Development (NPD) projects for commercial electro-mechanical products. Engineering activities include initial product conceptualization and innovation with input from the marketing team, and detailed engineering design and development. In this role a combination of engineering and project management activities will also serve production implementation, and post-launch support of new products. Successful candidates will also get the opportunity to contribute through cost reduction and product quality improvement projects of existing products.

Responsibilities: Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will work as part of the design and development team of highly skilled fun professionals Lead and assist with new product development, brainstorming, prototyping, troubleshooting and implementation of new concepts Use CAD modeling and analysis tools to design product solutions Role is 80% NPD, 20% QI As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will work closely with manufacturing plants on new product introductions Develop product performance validation plans and execute testing

REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 2-5+ years of design and engineering work or equivalent exposure obtained during engineering graduate school Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of design/mechanical engineering concepts Product development using 3D CAD packages including modeling, assembly, and drafting Hands on experience performing testing and teardown analysis of failed assemblies Project management and planning experience Knowledge of basic assembly methods including fasteners and snap fits Understanding of fluid behavior and basic knowledge of material mechanics Experience with or knowledge of plastic component design and thermoplastic/thermoset materials

Desired qualifications but not required: BS degree or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field 5+ years of experience in low cost, high volume, low defect manufacturing for electro-mechanical products Practical experience with problem solving methods such as 8D or DMAIC approaches Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE and process capability studies Root cause analysis, optimization, and reliability studies Knowledge of FEA and CFD - performing numerical analysis on a computer is preferred CAD modeling and drafting experience with SolidWorks is preferred Experience with fluid control devices is a plus Design for Six Sigma, Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma training is a plus Track record of innovation, patents, creative solutions Motivated, inspiring personality with strong leadership traits
