Overview The Senior Cloud Desktop Engineer will be a member of the existing level III engineering team for a large financial institution. The candidate will be the lead SME engineer, responsible for the expansion and migration of the company's on Prem Citrix virtual desktop solution into a cloud desktop computing platform. In addition, the evaluation and move to a cloud hosted solution such as Microsoft Azure cloud solutions with Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD).

Main Responsibilities
  • The Candidate must have working knowledge and experience in design and reference architecture for implementation of Microsoft Azure cloud solutions. Including WVD with Intune policies connecting to the company Portal.
  • The candidate will be the lead engineer responsible for recreating a model of the on-premises Citrix VDI solution and expanding it to Microsoft Azure cloud WVD desktop solutions.
  • Must have experience working with cloud connectors used to connect to other cloud workloads such as Azure, AWS and Citrix Workspace.
  • The candidate will be the lead engineer responsible for migrating Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) use cases from on Prem and into cloud workloads.
  • The candidate will interface with various business units, senior management and other supporting technology groups.
  • As a member of the engineering team, the candidate will be assigned large enterprise Cloud projects with aggressive timelines.
  • The Cloud Desktop Engineer will also be evaluating cloud solutions to be used by the Enterprise for Disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Working with project managers
    • Attending all project meetings
    • Representing the team to collect tasks, provide updates, metrics and timelines.
    • Taking complete ownership and responsibility of all identified project items, leveraging Agile processes and familiar with establishing OKR's.
  • The candidate will also be responsible to support the junior level staff, with the tools and documentation necessary to support the virtual cloud desktop environment.
  • The engineer must be able to adhere to strict IT security policies and change control processes.
  • Duties also include performing quality assurance of all changes before they are implemented in the production environment.
  • Working with management on product roadmaps and provide weekly reporting metrics\dashboards, to both the project team and senior leadership showing the success of the project/departmental goals.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of related support experience working in large corporate environments.
  • Real on the job experience in automation orchestration and scaling of VDI and apps into cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure WVD or AWS Workspaces required.
  • Enterprise experience supporting and migrating Citrix products into the cloud such as VDI, XenApp, Citrix Workspaces and NetScaler required.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Intune managed devices leveraging the Company Portal for application installation required.
  • Strong automation scripting abilities using PowerShell, Python and or other programming languages required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure cloud solutions preferably with (WVD) Windows Virtual Desktop.
  • Experience with cloud native products to automate workspace creation and termination, monitor deployments from start to finish, and detect issues before making available to end users required.
  • Experience with desktop image creation and updates.
  • The candidate will have performed numerous virtualization desktop engineering activities. From small to very large environments, with hands on experience on many different Cloud deployments.
  • Experience with migrations to public clouds, such as (Azure, Office 365) is required.
  • A demonstrated ability in successful problem-solving and management of multiple tasks/priorities
  • Self-motivated and disciplined requiring minimal supervision.
  • The ability to collaborate and build solid relationships with multiple teams within the organization.
  • Independent problem-solving and self-directing abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to practice tolerance and professionalism in times of high stress.
  • Ability to lead and take charge of a project from beginning to end.

Interpersonal Skills and Certifications Preferred:
  • Strong verbal, written skills and effective collaborator with many different types of audiences.
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Enterprise Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE): Plus, Security
  • Citrix Certified Expert - Virtualization (CCE-V)
