Outdoors Store Retail and Warehouse Associate

LowerGear Outdoors is a unique outdoors retail store in Tempe that specializes in lightweight backpacking gear, camping and backpacking gear rentals and kayak sales and rentals. We are the largest camping and travel gear rental company in the country with service nationwide.

We've been in the outdoor retail business for about 18 years, and our company has been in other lines of business since 1959. We're looking for an additional retail and operational associate to help in our retail and rental operations as we approach our busy camping and backpacking season.

Responsibilities include waiting on customers in the retail area; helping prepare orders for shipping via UPS, Fedex and USPS; and cleaning and re-stocking gear on return. Please note there is some heavy lifting required on occasion when we move shipping boxes and kayaks around, and when working in the warehouse, it can be uncomfortably hot or cold. This is a full-time position, with some weekend work required. We have some flexibility in the specific hours worked each day, certain times of the year.

You absolutely must have current outdoors experience being a former cub scout or having gone camping with your family once as a kid won't be enough. Generally, you need to be an avid outdoors type with relevant experience and familiarity with the latest gear. You'll also need basic computer, retail and order-entry skills.
