SummaryThe Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) provides security for the IHS network and serves as the security expert for the Information Technology (IT) projects. This position is located at the Phoenix Area Office in Phoenix, AZ and reports to the Phoenix Area Chief Information Officer.ResponsibilitiesCoordinates when necessary with Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) personnel to ensure that Security systems are adequately secure and kept up to date. Participates in conducting security evaluations; testing; reviews; audits of processes, such as risk and self-assessments; vulnerability scans and penetration tests; COOP/EMP testing; and other security oriented processes. Contributes to Enterprise Architecture Management, Software and System Acquisition Management, and IHS Capital Planning and Investment Control management. Ensures the security of systems while balancing the needs of system end-users in multiple lines of business throughout the IHS and Tribal health care system, including front office; direct and ancillary clinical, medical records; business office; and others. Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
