Title: VP Data Analytics & Strategic Projects

Location: Phoenix, AZ The Vice President (VP) Data Analytics & Strategic Projects is a member of the IT leadership team and is responsible for developing and governing the data and information delivery strategy to drive business value, insight, growth, scalability, and innovation. You will work cross-functionally with leaders across the business to identify and deliver information and insights that drive business results. This position provides leadership to the Data Management & Analytics team, as well as the Strategic IT Projects team, which manages large strategic IT initiatives.

Your role:
  • Develop and execute strategies designed to leverage the value of enterprise information assets and drive the use of data and analytics to render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs and acting as trusted advisor to meet those needs; be the corporate leader of data-driven insights that help support the achievement of organizational strategic goals.
  • Work with organizational leaders to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset. Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics. Establish the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making.
  • Provide leadership for the Data Management and Analytics team (responsible for all analytics related data stores and reporting/visualization tools), as well as the Strategic IT Project Management team (responsible for oversight and coordination of large organizational initiatives such as implementations of new enterprise platforms/systems or the integrations of systems and data resulting from M&A activities)
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with other IT leaders over Software Development & Applications, Infrastructure & Support, and IT Security; drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the IT budget for areas within scope of responsibility, including capital and operating expenditures.
  • Participate in the IT Steering Committee to ensure the alignment of IT resources and activities with business priorities.
  • Establish/maintain a high-performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements.

What you've got:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, data analysis, or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10+) years of progressive leadership experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics and/or Data Management and experience managing large teams required.
  • Experience in building and managing Cloud based analytical platforms and frameworks required.
  • Experience creating and executing a data and analytics COE required.
  • Experience integrating data and systems as a result of merger and/or acquisition is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of education business processes is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA, DoE Blue Book, Accreditation Standards, etc.) a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute IT strategies that are aligned to business strategies required.
  • Lead diverse teams and develop future leaders and managers.
  • Negotiate effectively while maintaining professional poise.
  • Effectively govern and improve IT processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior executives and communicating technical concepts in business terms.
  • Proficient with presentation, word-processing, and analysis software.
  • Adept at applying disparate elements of information to understand complex problems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential.
  • Adept at organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
  • Consistent in providing appropriate guidance, while maintaining confidentiality (as necessary) and professional decorum.
