Division Objective

To manage and support all information systems that Mountain Line requires, including phone systems, networks, applications, servers, PCs, copiers, and printers.

Administrative Services Division ensures that activities related to finance, human resources, information technology, procurement, grant management, compliance, and risk management are performed effectively and efficiently. The primary goal of administrative services is to direct, control and supervise the support services of the organization to facilitate its success by ensuring free flow of communication, compliance with various federal, state, and local polices, and efficient use of resources throughout the organization.

Job Purpose of an Information Technology Technician

Under the direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager, the Information Technology (IT) Technician supports Mountain Line’s mission by performing basic troubleshooting and help desk duties.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve Personal Computer (PC) hardware and software issues

Document work order requests and resolutions in the help desk system

Assist with account adds/changes/deletions on multiple systems

Provide individual and small group training on the use of computers, peripherals, cellphones/tablets, and a variety of general and transit specific software applications

Stay up to date with industry trends through training, research, and use of test environments

Performs other duties of similar natures as assigned

Serve as backup for the Information Technology (IT) Specialist

Attendance

Attendance should be regular and predictable. General employment policies with regard to vacation, sick, and unpaid leave apply. Occasional need to report to work on day off and work overtime.

Confidentiality

The incumbent is required to safeguard sensitive and confidential information and data. Under direct supervision by the IT Manager, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining security on all Mountain information systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, software, and peripherals

Knowledge of IT industry practices

Troubleshooting methods

Proficiency in Microsoft technologies (including Windows, Office 365, Teams, OneDrive)

Networking fundamentals

Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers

Patient, approachable, and flexible nature

Organized and attentive to detail

Abilities

Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve problems associated with PC hardware, and software

Comprehend complex written and verbal instructions

Communicate clearly with staff, vendors, and other agencies

Demonstrate effective decision making and time management

Establish effective working relationships with a culturally diverse population

Participate in on call rotation, including weekends and holidays

Be self-motivated

Working Conditions, Exposure to Risks and Physical Dangers

This position requires physical effort such as walking, lifting, standing, and manual dexterity. Requires lifting of computer and network parts that are big and heavy. Requires walking from one office to another, from one cubicle to another, or to other areas of the premises. Requires crawling under small spaces to trouble shoot computer units.

Because of the potential exposure associated with the work, incumbents in this job are required to follow all Mountain Line safety procedures, manuals, and guidelines. Additionally, incumbents are required to properly don safety-related clothing, protective hard hats, gloves, footwear, tools and equipment, and other safety-related gear.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED, A+ certification, and 1 year of related experience; Associate degree in Information Systems or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Similar Work Experience: 1 year of similar work experience is preferred.

Licenses, Training and/or Certifications Required

Valid Arizona Driver’s License

Related CompTIA, Cisco, and/or Microsoft certifications preferred
