As a Junior OSP/ISP Tech you’ll focus on infrastructure audits, assessments, design, and implementation. If you are a motivated individual looking to be a part of a critical mission, GDIT would like to speak with you.In this role, a typical day will include:Under limited direction, assist with and conduct infrastructure audits, assessments, designs, and implementation.

Assist with site surveys and document current site OSP ducting, cabling, and power/ground circuits, equipment and racking inventory, and user requirements

Follow engineering installation packages and work with installation team

Assist with other related equipment installation, signal cable installations and cable connections and labeling.

Assist with documenting related changes at each site

Consistent and reliable attendance required

Travel to other Locations or Customer Sites as necessary

Understand and adhere to all Ethical and Compliance policies

Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to all EH&S policies and procedures

Perform other duties as required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required (Visio, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Attention to detail is required and aid in the survey/designing the OSP/ISP infrastructure

Willing to learn complex OSP/ISP design and implementation

Experience testing power and cabling related to equipment/systems and following standard test procedures, desired

Experience in using common test equipment (e.g. Grounding Meter, Optical Power Meter, Cat 5/6 test set, Multi-Meter), helpful

Experience in outside plant cabling, preferred

Requires extensive travel (75%)

HS Diploma

Experience following direction and working in a team environment

There is an Interim Secret clearance requirement to begin employment.

Working Conditions:Work is performed both in and office or communications room environment and outside, requiring proper safety precautions

Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment

May require working after hours or on weekends

Occasional work in tight or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors may be required - Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time
