Local Fairbanks Laboratory is looking to hire an exceptional individual for the position of ‪Laboratory Director‬.‬‬‬‬‬

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer and 3rd party audit requirements; overseeing the analytical laboratory; implementing and improving quality management programs and procedures; watching over the day-to-day facility operations to ensure adherence to all quality and regulatory standards; assuring compliance of services with agreed to specifications; developing, driving and continuously improving quality systems; and developing, implementing, driving and delivering superior execution of business and customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities‬ :

Oversee and direct the scientific methods of the laboratory

Ensure that the testing laboratory achieves and maintains quality standards or practice

Ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, customer and 3rd party audit requirements

Develop Analytical Methods for both Chemistry based assays, genetic Assays, as well as microbiological

assays

Ensure that all employees are properly trained in quality-related procedures by developing and/or presenting

training materials· Participate in the establishment and ongoing improvement of quality control systems

Coordinate with customer service team to proactively respond to customer complaints and inquiries

Implement solutions to quality problems through inspections, investigations, and audits

Audit and update standard operating procedures

Manage ongoing development, implementation and improvement of the Quality Management System

Encourage project/process designs that simplify compliance with quality requirements

Conduct or direct internal audits

Develop and maintain documentation to comply with record keeping requirements

Consult with clients and government regulators

A drive for continuous improvement in the facility, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Perform other duties as needed for the successful operation of the facility

Requirements:‬

Technical competence in analytical chemistry or microbiology

Previous Managerial experience

HPLC experience, GC experience, MS experience preferred, Headspace sampling

experience

Microbiological experience (plating, e.coli, salmonella, aspergillis)

Experience in evaluating instrumentation

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical writing· Detail-oriented

Experience in computer database and Microsoft Office applications.

Education Requirements:‬‬

Hold a master’s degree in chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university and have completed 5 years of full-time, post-education practical experience in a laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body

‪And/Or‬‬‬‬‬‬

Hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university and have completed 7 years of full-time, post-education practical experience in a laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body.
