UAS Weapons/Payload Engineer
Alabama, Huntsville / decatur, 35801 Huntsville / decatur USAHuntsville, AL, USA | Full Time JHNA is seeking a UAS Weapons/Payload Engineer to support the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Project Management Office (PMO) within PEO AVN. This candidate will provide management oversight and technical expertise for the development, integration, testing, and operational/technical support for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) projects or programs focused on but not limited to launched effects launcher and UAS (to include launched effects) weapon payloads, integration, and qualification. Products supported include all Army UAS with focus on Group 4 UAS and below (to include Launched Effects). Roles/Responsibilities:
Provide Technical Expertise on payload issues impacting all potential uncrewed platforms.
Provide programmatic and technical support for implementing new technical systems through the Army approval process.
Participate in design reviews for all engineering projects which affect air/ground launch hardware and software design, development, integration, and qualification of lethal effects.
Provide Technical Expertise on payload interface standards issues and interface standard development impacting all uncrewed platforms.
Provide technical guidance and support of test activities related to payload performance.
Monitor the state of emerging technologies related to requirements-based payloads.
Provide coordination and support to the S&T and government groups that are working on potential payloads.
Manage assigned payload engineering service projects within cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Provide recommendations on modifications to improve payload performance including interfaces with the air vehicle.
Communicate directly with contractors, engineers, logistician, program managers, and business team members to provide coordinated direction and tasking.
Provide concise reports to management on status, potential issues/risks, and participate in the development of contingency plans.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics required, master's degree/PhD in Engineering/Physics desired.
Previous experience in Launched Effects desired.
Experience w/ managing efforts through the Army Fuse Safety Review Board.
Uncrewed Aircraft or Missile experience desired.
Payload Integration experience required. Military Aviation or Missile experience desired.
Candidate must possess strong communication skills; oral and written.
Candidate must possess a proven ability to develop and provide reports to management.
US Citizenship is required.
