Over the course of this structured six-month program, you will hone your skills and develop strong professional networks in the national security sector and across our Innovation Centers, helping solve critical national challenges. Job Responsibilities:Working alongside MITRE mission specialists and engineers, you will be supporting a national security sponsor while helping to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the autonomy challenges of our government sponsors. You will learn about MITRE sponsor missions and apply your technical knowledge and skills to problem-solving and innovation. At the culmination of the National Security Accelerator Program , you will become part of MITRE’s National Security team focused on sponsor missions with a strong technical background enabling you to be a future leader in the company.From robotics to image analysis to enhanced decision-making, you will learn to apply autonomous engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor’s autonomy challenges to include:Building and testing fully autonomous prototypes with complete software stacks (all domains)

Develop and implement autonomous algorithms

Develop, improve, and support an efficient software development process that delivers near-final code to DoD customers

Integrate autonomy-enabling sensor modalities (e.g., computer vision)

Develop, implement, and improve human-machine teaming approaches

What are some examples of the projects that I might work on?Autonomous platform integration of real-world solutions enabling operations in denied environments

Improving autonomy to reduce cognitive load on robotic system operators

Developing autonomy-enabled operational concepts to solve real-world problems

Modelling and simulation of autonomous systems at scale

Experiment with prototype systems in operationally-relevant scenarios and environments

Research and assessment of feasibility of current technologies applied to sponsor problems

What does an ideal MITRE Accelerator Autonomy Engineer bring to the position?Hands-on experience gained from previous work experience or relevant intern/co-op work

Applied knowledge of autonomy principles, tools, and devices

Proficiency in multiple autonomy modalities, domains, and approaches

Interdisciplinary background, with at least of one of those disciplines being artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field

Evidence of being a life-long learner, with a passion for the field

High-level desire to help our nation solve critical problems

Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science and 2 years of related experience in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related technical field or an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) with relevant experience who can immediately contribute

A bility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Programming experience in C/C, Python, R, or similar

A foundational bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science

Experience in one or more autonomous systems technologies areas of study: Robotics, mechatronics, modelling cyber-physical systems, control systems, perception, cognition, machine decision-making, human/robot interaction, embedded systems

Preferred Qualifications: Active Top Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance

BS and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step

Experience with algorithm development or modeling and simulation in MATLAB / Simulink or similar tools

Experience working projects related to national security for one or more government agencies

Interdisciplinary background, with evidence of continual learning

Experience developing machine learning solutions with modern toolchains, e.g. TensorFlow, MXNet, Scikit-Learn

Experience with ROS, MOOS, or other robotics middleware solutions

Experience with Operating Systems: Linux, Windows, Mac OS

Artificial intelligence-focused technical qualifications and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar

Ability to visualize and interpret patterns in data for a non-technical audience

Familiarity with data management best practices

Familiarity with DevOps patterns and practices

Top Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance
