Staff Accountant

Description There's currently a contract to hire position available for an experienced Staff Accountant with Robert Half in the Healthcare, Hospitals, Social Assistance industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Take part in various department-wide initiatives

Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

Requirements - High attention to detail

Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Previous experience working with accruals

Account reconciliation experience

Good understanding of Accrual Accounting

Financial reconciliation experience highly preferred

Adeptness in Bank Account Reconciliation

Earlier work involving Accrual Accounting

Deep understanding of Bank Account Reconciliation

Background working with Microsoft Excel

Demonstrated knowledge of bank reconciliations

Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience

Account reconciliation experience desired

Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience highly desired

General familiarity with Credit Card Reconciliation

Practical knowledge of Expense Reconciliation

Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

Efficient in ERP systems

Competent with spreadsheets and databases

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

Recent and relevant accounting experience
