Primary Daily Duties:

  • Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Schedule and monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials for domestic and international shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding transportation, including hazardous materials.4. Confer with other department heads in the manufacturing facility to coordinate functions such as production, quality assurance, inventory management, sales, and procurement.
  • Improve and control methods and costs of shipping.
  • Respond to customers’ or shippers’ questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.
  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing standard operational procedures. Assign duties and examine work for maximum efficiency.
  • Interview, select, and train warehouse and shipping personnel. Participate in personnel development.
  • Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Assist in preparing department budget.
  • Direct preparation of claims against truck and air freight carries for damage or lost merchandise.
  • Maintain shipping systems, prepare work orders for repair, and evaluate and recommend new equipment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
  • Proficiently operate the following equipment: computer, manual and power hoists, power trucks, shipping systems, flat carts, pneumatic and electric staplers, hand staplers, tapers, automated box sealers and stretch wrappers.
  • Learn, follow, and enforce company policies and standards.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Know the established location, comprehend, and employ available information provided in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s).
  • Perform other assigned duties and support functions as requested by Operations Manager. pre>` Qualifications:

Experience and Training:

  • 3 to 5 years of shipping and receiving experience
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Hazardous Goods shipment experience preferred

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Able to lift and handle up to 70 pounds.2. Able to read, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Must be very accurate, have good memory, an eye for detail.4. Strong leadership abilities
  • Must exercise initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making6. Organized with analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to maintain dependable attendance.
  • Able to interact with other departments, coworkers, vendors, and technical support with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Proficient in standard business office software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word) and general math
