The Shop Manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the vehicles and equipment used in our ecological restoration business, and the physical infrastructure of the shop facilities. This is a Permanent Full-Time position.

Location:

DeForest WI 50% and Black Earth WI 50% (negotiable)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced person to oversee the maintenance, organization, and utilization of various equipment crucial for our ecological restoration projects. This role ensures the smooth functioning of our restoration efforts by managing a diverse range of tools and machinery, small to large.

Responsibilities:

Equipment Oversight: Manage the entire fleet of equipment; including chainsaws, water pumps, UTVs, tractors, skid steers, trucks, trailers and other various equipment as needed. Ensure proper maintenance, repairs, and safe operation of all equipment and machinery.

Inventory and Procurement: Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory. Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of new equipment, tools, and replacement parts as necessary.

Team Support: Work closely with restoration teams to assess equipment needs for ongoing and upcoming projects. Ensure timely availability of necessary tools and machinery. Assist in maximizing operational performance and achieving conservation and company goals.

Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols related to equipment operation. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards in equipment use and maintenance. Maintain pesticide license with WI DATCP.

Training and Documentation: Provide training and guidance to staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment. Maintain documentation of equipment inspections, repairs, and service history. Maintain a minimum working knowledge of the Ecological Restoration industry, the willingness to learn new tools and techniques, and the ability to adapt to new approaches.

Qualifications:

Proven experience (5 years) in equipment management, preferably in relation to an outdoor or environmental setting.

Strong knowledge of various types of equipment used in ecological restoration, including chainsaws, water pumps, ATV/UTVs, tractor, skidsteers, trucks, trailers and other equipment.

Proficiency in standard maintenance and repair procedures.

Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to equipment operation.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

An innovative and motivational mentality.

Excellent time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Confident and goal-oriented.

Education:

A degree or certification in equipment maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not required.

Hours:

40 hours/week (4x10 shift available)

Available by phone/email Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

Available evenings and weekends as needed (not very often).

Compensation:

Full-Time Permanent Employees receive:

Holidays Pay – 9 Holidays Paid (8 Federal 1 Flex)

Vacation Paid Time Off – Given as a lump sum annually

▪ amounts based on position and time at Quercus (40 hours first year)

Personal/Sick Paid Time Off – 36 hours annually

Boot/Gear Reimbursement – Up to $300 annually

Volunteer Time – Up to 20 hours per year paid volunteering

Certifications- paid for by Quercus

Professional Development paid time - PAID hours to completed All required certifications (Fire, Herbicide, Chainsaw, CPR, ATV, Defensive Driver training, OSHA 10).

Sabbatical – Earned after 5 years of Full-Time Permanent employment

Ability to increase wage based on additional certifications and longevity

Guaranteed annual raise of $0.50-$75
