We are a 35-bed unit, designed specifically for recovering low acuity medical-surgical patients, patients undergoing transitional care, and patients with light behavioral health needs. This is a great leadership opportunity for a Registered Nurse with previous experience in long term acute care or behavioral health.SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, day shift only. The Assistant Nurse Manager will typically work two 12 hour shifts, one 8 hour shift, and an additional 8 hours of administrative time each week. The exact days and start times may vary.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Nurse Manager is a supervisory position, responsible for clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordination. The Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee patient placement and throughput and will act as the main onsite leadership when administration is not present.
Acts as a lead point of contact for Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants
Establishes effective workflows for routine tasks and projects
Facilitates staff meetings in conjunction with the Nurse Manager
Reviews unit staffing schedule and plans for coverage due to vacations, LOAs, and vacant positions
Monitors unit acuity and patient flow, and supports care coordination for complex patients
Participates in unit and organizational committees, taskforces, and work groups
Plans, implements, and evaluates educational offerings to enhance the delivery of care (in-services, continuing education, vendor and equipment education, etc.)
Provides feedback to the Nurse Manager for annual performance evaluations
Plans, implements, and evaluates unit orientation for new staff
Models service excellence in daily practice
Demonstrates ability to provide “just in time” feedback to staff regarding clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient/family communications
Responds appropriately to emergency situations and drills
Intervenes to address illegal/unethical/unprofessional practice of any member of the health care team
Promotes practices and decisions that reduce human error and promote patient safety MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
2 years of medical-surgical, skilled facility, psychiatric, or long term acute care nursing experience
An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington
