FT/PT opening/Prep The Filling Station

The Filling Station in Fairhaven, is looking to hire a Full Time and/or Part Time opening line cook, who mainly handles prep work day to day. We are open from 11am - 9pm and shifts are typically 6-8 hours apiece. Applicants should have the availability to work weekends.

Opening prep shift hours are approximately: 8 am or 9 am and go until 4pm

We have a fast paced kitchen environment and work together as a team. Working well with other employees is a must! We are looking for someone that communicates well with both Front of house and Back of house staff and can stay cool under pressure. We're looking for a responsible individual who is interested in opening up the kitchen, 3, 4, or 5 days a week, writing the prep list, running the prep department, keeping up in dishes, helping on line if the line could use a hand. Prep department and work load requires just one individual on per day, but it's a tight kitchen and your still in the mix with the rest of the crew! Everyone has each other's backs so expect to cross train to each area of the kitchen.

Prep openers days look like:

Putting order away (monday and/or Friday)

Get chicken thawing.

Set up the line for the day (heating sauces, cooking off bacon, pulling lids.)

You'll write the prep list for the day.

Start with the more prep intensive items and work your way through. Preparing sauces, bacon jam, marinades, preparing chicken, breading pickles, caramelize onions, prep veggies, ECT

Keeping up on dishes along the way and helping line they are swamped.

We would be especially interested in someone interested in additionally preparing desserts and/or soups.

Minimum 4 years of kitchen experience required. Must have a valid Washington State Food Handlers card. Serve Safe Certification is a plus.

For the positions currently advertised (experience depending) Pay range starts at $17.28/hour plus tips and ends at $19.00/hour plus tips. Tips in the past, average out to be between $4-$6 an hour. As we head into higher volume tourist season that number may rise.

Prep department is a part of the tip pool!

Compensation

The Filling Station offers a competitive hourly wage (DOE). Employee discounts, great tip pool (about $4/hour) and benefits (health, and dental) to Full Time employees.
