We are embedding climate-related considerations throughout our strategy and risk management, and we are supplying solutions that our customers and communities will need to thrive in an economy aligned with the goals of the 2015Paris Accords to limit global temperature rise this century.Our Climate Strategy team is responsible for understanding the shifting climate-related landscape, advising senior leadership on its potential implications for Capital One, building a company-wide climate strategy, organizing and leading company-wide climate strategy efforts, consulting with the emissions measurement and disclosure teams, as well as contributing to climate risk and broader line of business efforts across the enterprise. The team works on high importance, high visibility projects at the most senior levels of the company that have lasting impacts on thousands of associates and millions of customers.Position Summary:We are seeking an experienced program manager to support the strategic implementation of the enterprise wide Climate Program. As a Manager, Project Management, you will work with smart and passionate people to deliver impactful results that drive the performance of the company forward. You will support the execution of several high visibility programs concurrently, and the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to strategically plan, communicate across the organization, influence as appropriate, and make decisions quickly and effectively.This individual will have a proven track record of managing projects, creating governance frameworks, and leading the strategic development of new work, in a dynamic, complex environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment are essential to succeeding in this role.A successful candidate will be able to:
Drive program management office execution based on defined priorities; strategically planning in a collaborative setting, monitoring and managing critical path decisions and risks, planning contingencies, facilitating scope changes, identifying gaps, and building mitigation plans to achieve desired outcomes
Be well-managed in everything we do; creating and adhering to governance standards, clearly defining & documenting processes and decisions, executing controls, and having an audit-ready mindset
Demonstrate an ownership mindset; incorporating enterprise-level perspectives, structuring conceptual problems, dealing with ambiguity, focusing on the areas of highest leverage, and influencing strategic decisions across senior leadership
Drive solutions to complex problems; partnering with stakeholders to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership, applying sound business judgment that recognizes trade offs between competing priorities, and influencing solution delivery
General Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and manage climate programs and projects in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
Support multiple high-level projects, create standards, templates, and processes to efficiently manage work in a dynamic complex environment
Create and execute Climate Strategy reporting, such as quarterly business reviews with senior leadership and enterprise-wide climate commitment monitoring and communications
Build enterprise-wide relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure priorities are aligned and solutions incorporate diverse perspectives as well as to remove potential impediments to allow for on time delivery of commitments
Develop governance frameworks to ensure processes and decisions are being documented with rigor and mitigate risks
Understand how external regulations, policies, protocols, and frameworks should be considered within the decision making process
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 4 Years of Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters / MBA degree
At least 6 years of Project Management experience
PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
