About the Position: This position is located at AMCOM, USA TMDE ACTIVITY,TMDE SPT REGION 1, FORT EUSTIS TSC, FORT EUSTIS, VA Responsibilities Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements. Calibrate test, measurement and diagnostic equipment to define the accuracy and uncertainties of the equipment. Apply electronic principles to collect data for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Prepare test and certification reports containing values, corrections, and/or uncertainties for calibrated instruments. Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements for test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: The Public Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform calibration operations on various types of electronic, electrical and/or electromechanical measurement systems; prepare reports to provides technical information used in the decision making process for the development of documents used for TMDE certification; perform repairs incidental to calibration as required by equipment specifications; interpret simple technical procedures and schematics in order to adapt them to calibration assignments; and diagnose or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
