The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is in need of culturally responsive and culturally specific foster homes for LGBTQ youth. Even though LGBTQ youth are estimated to only account for 5-7% of the nation’s youth, 13-15% of the youth in the juvenile justice system are LGTBQ (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention). Many of the teens who come to OYA have never had a positive, supportive adult in their lives. It’s one of the biggest barriers getting their lives back on track.

As an OYA foster parent, you can be that role model. You can provide youth ages 12-24 with a supportive, safe home and the guidance to change their lives for the better.

You will receive training to help ensure your success as an OYA foster parent. You will have 24/7 access to OYA professionals who will answer your questions and support your success. The youth will have health care coverage through the Oregon Health Plan, and you will receive a monthly stipend to cover your expenses.
