Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Support and Execution:
Collaborate with the CTO to define, prioritize, and drive the execution of strategic technology initiatives at PPLFirst, ensuring alignment with our overarching business goals.
Serve as the CTO’s right hand, translating high-level objectives into detailed execution plans that are tracked and reported through defined metrics.
Provide strategic insights and critical feedback to the CTO, helping to refine and optimize the technology roadmap.
CTO Metrics and Performance Tracking:
Develop, implement, and monitor key CTO metrics, such as system uptime, incident resolution time, development velocity, and customer satisfaction with technology services.
Establish dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide real-time visibility into these metrics, ensuring that the CTO and senior leadership have a clear understanding of technology performance.
Regularly analyze data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement, presenting actionable insights to the CTO.
Portfolio Management:
Manage the entire technology portfolio at PPLFirst, including planning, tracking, and reporting on all major initiatives, ensuring they are aligned with the CTO's key metrics and strategic objectives.
Oversee resource allocation across projects, ensuring that the most critical initiatives receive the attention and investment they require.
Conduct regular portfolio reviews with the CTO, providing updates on progress, risks, and any adjustments needed to meet strategic goals.
Project Oversight and Coordination:
Lead the execution of key technology projects at PPLFirst, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, with a strong focus on achieving the CTO’s metrics.
Coordinate across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution, fostering collaboration and alignment.
Facilitate communication between the CTO, engineering teams, and other stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are informed and working towards common goals.
Process Improvement and Optimization:
Identify and implement process improvements within the technology organization that directly impact the CTO’s key metrics, such as development cycle time, quality assurance processes, and operational efficiency.
Standardize processes and documentation to streamline operations and reduce variability in project outcomes.
Lead initiatives to adopt new tools, technologies, and methodologies that enhance productivity and meet the evolving needs of the business.
Operational Leadership:
Assist the CTO in managing the day-to-day operations of the technology organization, handling urgent issues, managing priorities, and making tactical decisions to keep projects on track.
Lead regular meetings and ensure follow-through on action items, optimizing the CTO’s time and focusing efforts on strategic initiatives.
Represent the CTO in meetings and discussions as needed, ensuring that PPLFirst’s technology organization’s interests are effectively communicated and protected.
Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that PPLFirst’s technology team’s objectives are clearly communicated and aligned with business needs.
Act as a liaison between the CTO and other departments, facilitating collaboration and alignment on key initiatives and ensuring that the CTO’s metrics are understood and supported across the organization.
Manage expectations and ensure timely communication of progress, risks, and challenges to all relevant parties.
Key CTO Metrics to Drive:
System Uptime and Reliability :
Target: Achieve and maintain 99.99% uptime for all critical systems, with a focus on proactive maintenance and rapid incident response.
Development Velocity :
Target: Increase development throughput by 20% year-over-year, measured by the number of features delivered per sprint.
Incident Resolution Time :
Target: Reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR) for critical incidents to under 1 hour, with continuous monitoring and improvement of response processes.
Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) with Technology Services :
Target: Achieve a CSAT score of 90% or higher for all technology-related services, ensuring high-quality support and product reliability.
Cost Efficiency :
Target: Optimize technology spend to deliver a 10% reduction in cost per project without compromising quality or timelines.
Innovation Index :
Target: Launch 3 new innovative technology solutions or features per year that contribute to competitive differentiation and business growth.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience :
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in technology management, portfolio management, or a related role, with a strong emphasis on metrics and data analysis.
Proven experience working closely with C-level executives, particularly in a Chief of Staff or similar role, with a focus on driving key performance metrics.
Strong technical background with deep knowledge of software development, infrastructure, and technology operations.
Experience in a fast-paced startup environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Skills :
Leadership and Influence : Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority to achieve key objectives.
Project Management : Expertise in managing complex technology projects using methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
Strategic Thinking : Ability to align technical execution with broader business objectives and strategic goals.
Communication : Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical metrics into actionable business insights.
Data-Driven : Proficiency in using data to drive decisions, with experience in building and interpreting dashboards and performance metrics.
Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Certifications :
Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or similar certifications are desirable.
Certifications in data analysis or business intelligence (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) are a plus.
