We are currently hiring for a Scientist opening within the Gene Therapy field! This is a long-term career opportunity and we are hiring both Level I and II openings, which are based on different levels of experience. These Scientist positions are going to help with the development of Plasmids used to create and manufacture Gene Therapy products. These products are made to be used as potential treatments for various different types of cancers, genetic diseases, amongst others.We are looking for someone with a Bachelors Degree or a Masters Degree and strong cellular experience, which could be from industry work or potentially academic research. Someone with a PhD level education would likely be overqualified for these particular roles.Description:The Plasmids Scientist is responsible for producing and manufacturing the Plasmids needed to manufacture the final Gene Therapy products. This will include operating various different laboratory equipment in a Clean Room and GMP regulated environment and will help support all aspects of the Plasmid manufacturing process. This role will work in conjunction with the main manufacturing lab that is creating the final product as well as any other necessary departments or groups.
The Scientist will be working with microbial systems, bacterial metabolism and current bioprocessing technologies, and help develop processes for expression of plasmid DNA using microbial fermentation systems.
Will help devise fermentation production processes that can be scaled from sub-liter shake flask cultures to 200-L bioreactors, develop and review procedures and Batch Record forms for fermentation processes, assist in the technical transfer of fermentation processes from process development to research grade and GMP manufacturing
Respond to, and take action from, alarm notifications from the applicable monitoring system(s) for laboratory temperature-controlled storage units that occur at any point during the assigned period of responsibility
Identify and Coordinate development of experiments to fill knowledge gaps
Work with vendors to design and source new materials
Anticipate and troubleshoot issues with operations to avoid interruptions in production
Solving, correcting, preventing problems, and performing tasks as assigned by leadership, as well as delegating tasks to junior staff
Assuring the availability of materials and the proper documentation surrounding GMP activities and product quality
Works in close collaboration with Management to ensure continuous improvement objectives are identified and met using metrics and other statistical means
Works in close collaboration with Management to ensure new projects and technologies are sought for incorporation into the Plasmid area
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree and strong cellular or similar experience from either industry work or academic research experience.
