Together, we work towards equipping each student with the tools they need to become lifelong learners and valuable contributors to both their local community and the global society.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:The person in this role will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director of Student Support Services, Director of Student Support Services, and School Social Workers across the Rochester City School District. The primary functions will include providing assistance and support with the development and implementation of the RCSD School Social Work Comprehensive Plan. The TOA will assist the Executive Director and Director of Student Support Services with facilitating educational training, coaching/mentoring, project coordinator, and leadership development for School Social Workers and applying research-based support systems/tools and reflectively planning with schools to ensure NASW and NYSSSWA alignment. The TOA will work in collaboration with students, parents, teachers, school administrators and all members of the school community to ensure scholars are provided support for their social, emotional, and behavioral needs that lead towards high school graduation and post-secondary options. The TOA will demonstrate a collaborative work ethic, supportive commitment to high levels of performance for students and adults, flexibility in daily routines, and full participation in culture change. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the development and implementation of the School Social Work Comprehensive Plan across the RCSD.

Develop, participate in, and facilitate ongoing training, mentorship, and support around topics related to academic, mental health, and social-emotional learning, therapeutic intervention, and community collaboration.

Support the transition of school social workers across Rochester City School District due to reconfiguration of schools.

Act as a co-lead of the School Social Work Advisory Committee.

Participate on district level and county-wide teams related to School Social Work and SEL initiatives.

Complete school visits meet regularly with school-level social work teams.

Support the data collection and analysis of key School Social Work practice elements.

Routinely analyze data to assist in utilizing effective strategies and methodologies related to School Social Work.

Support with the implementation of Student Support Services initiatives and goals, ie. Second Step: Erin’s law, college and career Platform, MTSS, Community Partnerships’ programming, TIG, Mental Health Assessments, and the Intern to Employment pipeline.

Co-lead professional learning for school social workers and other pertinent stakeholders.

Act as supplemental support at schools when additional school social worker assistance is required.

Other responsibilities may arise as directed by the Executive Director and Director of Student Support Services.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:

Mastery level knowledge of utilizing data for instructional decisions, including data analysis, differentiated supports, and fostering student engagement.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in School Social Work, with a record of successfully improving student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.

Must possess strong knowledge and experience with Trauma, Illness, and Grief counseling, restorative practices, mental health intervention, crisis response, mentoring adults, and culturally relevant inclusive practices.

Working knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs, sheets, and slides.

Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues.

Demonstrated willingness to participate in professional learning for oneself.

Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Tenured School Social Worker at RCSD.
